Black Tie Bingo 2012!!!!

Well, this year's Black Tie Bingo's 20th Anniversary fundraiser was a fabulous night! We had the 20's theme, and I was so impressed to see how many people dressed up for this great event!!!! I had the privilege of decorating this year's event, with the theme I knew it was going to be fabulous!!!!

I had so much fun with this plan, it really was so beautiful to see it all come together. When you have the vision in your mind, and then to see it for real life when it is complete is such an empowering feeling.

The car was a fabulous hit. We had a photo center where you could get your pictures taken and printed right there for you in black and white!!!

Once again thank you Red Deer for all your support. All the live and silent auction items that were donated were a real hit, and helped this event raise the funds it needed to put back into our great community. The committee was such a fabulous group of people to work with, they all worked so hard to make this event the huge success that it was! Thank you RED DEER!!!

C.A.W.E.S. Transformation

So a few years ago I was going through a very rough time in my life. I had to find something to clear my head and something that I could turn my energy around because I had to stop feeling sorry for myself. So I phoned the women's shelter in Red Deer and asked them if they needed some volunteers. The lady I spoke with asked what I did because she saw my email signature and thought I would be able to help with a make over project to update some rooms for the women and children that come to live with them. I set up a meeting to see go see the rooms for myself and when I walked in I felt so cold. The rooms were so not inviting and had a hospital feel to them. I couldn't imagine the feeling they have running for their lives let alone stay in a room that isn't very inviting or warm??? Like my motto says, every room deserves to sparkle!!!!! And I knew in my heart I had to help. Since that day I have been raising money to transform the rooms so that when these women and children that have to go there, can feel safe and warm and have the energy and strength they need to start all over. After talking to the ladies in the shelter and being there almost everyday for 2 weeks I feel like its such a big family and I was so honored to work there. I raised enough so far to do 2 rooms and those rooms I am hoping are just the beginning of what I can do for that whole place. I am so grateful to each and every person who was able to help me with this incredible journey!!! I have met so many amazing women along the way and I can't wait to continue to work on the rest of the rooms!!!!

Clear your home and allow more positive flow into your life

When you first walk into your home, you should have a feeling of joy and relaxation come over your body. You should feel so excited to be there. Or are you walking through the door that barely even opens to find your body clench and tighten because you can't stand to see stuff everywhere it's NOT suppose to be?

It's impossible to come home to the ones you love with open arms when all you see is overwhelming clutter that is busting at the seams of your lovely home.

Your so busy with work and life that you can't seem to ever find the time to deal with it, let alone find any time for yourself!!!

Well, I believe there is a way if you really want to make a change, you have to commit. Commit yourself to do 1 thing a week, one little corner or 1 drawer...anything to get you started. Then you can commit to one more thing the following week. Cant do it weekly??? Then plan for once a month! But you have to make that step or you will always procrastinate and never get it done.

Soon you will begin to notice that you have more energy and more time for yourself. How can the mind rest if it is always in stress mode?

Clear your space, it will clear your mind and make more room for love, joy and happiness.

Calgary Home and Design show

So I went to the Calgary Home and Design show this past Saturday. It was such a beautiful day had a great drive from Red Deer, but I thought it was going to be much bigger then it was. And I was so sad I really was hoping to buy a new steamer!! That's ok because Red Deer hosts theirs in March so I am hoping to find one there!

It was nice to walk around and see all the booths and their amazing items. We ran into the hot tub guy that we had spoken to a while back, and oh man would it have been nice to bring one of those bad boys home. I am sure we will run into him in the Spring at the show.

So when I am all done with these 3 fundraisers and work projects for the remainder of the year, I am so looking forward to planning and designing up our booth for the home show. January 2, 2013 I can start working on it...hahahahaha - Crazy year....fabulous year, but very go - go - go - !

Some of my items for my booth are going to include chandeliers, wallpaper, wainscoting.....oh and furniture and pillows!!!! Can't wait looking forward to it.

Getting ready for BTB

So I went to Micheal's today, because I really need to start putting together my flower arrangement for my silent auction item for the BTB this year which includes this flower arrangement, picture frame (which I am still shopping around for) and a staging gift certificate. I LOVE these colors together seriously now all I want to do is get this all done RIGHT NOW! haha - Okay, so check these colors out!!!!!! Ouwwwwwwwwwwww

It doesn't look like much yet, but just wait! How can you tell I love what I do right. I just get way to excited when it comes to being creative, that's why I think I have so much energy to do what I have to do ....cause I absolutely love what I do. And I have an amazing family that love me so much :) Anyway...let's look at these items a little more closely so you can see how pretty it really is!!!!

Can't wait to put it all together. I will show you what it looks like when I am done. Just to fill you in tho in case your aren't sure what I am talking about when I say "Black Tie Bingo". It is our event that our Rotary Club committee members put on in Red Deer (http://www.clubrunner.ca). HUGE event for our city! Wait till I show you what the night looks like because I am decorating the whole place and OMG it is going to be so pretty, I get goosebumps just having the vision of how it will all look!! YAY! You are gonna love it, I betcha!

Also just wanted to say, I was at the dollar store today, and bought a few bags of rocks that I use for some of my flower arrangements, $1 a bag!!!! Can't get better then that my friends! They have tons of colors and styles, I bought a few white ones to use for the flowers I am making to use on the stage beside the podium!!! Pictures and decor will be shared don't worry, I can't wait to make those bad boys!!

Change your perspective

Hmmmmm how do I do that you say?! Well, if you can try and change the way you are viewing your "current situation" (whatever that may be) look at it from a different angle, see if from someone else's shoes......you will see it from a different light and this may help you get the answers you are seeking.

Color has meaning...WHAT????

You betcha!!! Color has meaning, and by not identifying the different characteristics of color, you can really change the mood of your entire space.

Right now I am working on a project with the Central Alberta Women's Emergency Centre, raising funds to do room makeover's to the entire home. Check it out at www.empoweringwomentogether.info

We have to keep the walls to 1 paint color, for maintenance purposes, with 36 rooms, they aren't scanning through piles of paint cans to touch up each room with a different color. Get the concept? Alright, so right now the rooms are a YELLOW!  So, we hear yellow we think, awwwww the sun shines yellow, what a warm and inviting color right? This is true. Yet there is a negative aspect to YELLOW, it can also bring on anxiety and depression!! Yuck right....I don't like that one bit, especially not for the rooms for women and their children to come to start a new life. Right???

So saying that I am going next week to pick a new paint color, I would like to find a nice soft warm Green! Green is the color of balance and growth! I like the sounds of that already.

If you find that you cannot repaint an entire room, and want to keep it small and simple, you can always add colors with crystals, or pillows to bring in some positive energy with color, on a smaller budget!
